I was not a student at Bucknell in late 2020, but from what I have heard was the university was shut down and there was zoom classes. The school as well as the whole country was put into lockdown. The university followed what the state and federal government was saying. They still follow them today. If they say to wear a mask the university implements masks in classes and if they say they are not needed the university removes the mandate. Bucknell does not have the knowledge to evaluate the population of the university and make their own decisions for the university, so they follow what the federal government says because they are believed to have more knowledge. After listening to the lecture it seems like the Dr. Fauci does not understand the virus and how to stop it. The fact that he gave New York an award for their response when they had a death rate of 0.17% which was the highest is very concerning.
I observed that other universities would listen to the state government and follow what other universities in the sate did. When it came to vaccination and masking Bucknell had the advantage of making their own decision since they are a private institution verses state universities. Bucknell required every student to be vaccinated, but most state universities did not have this same regulation.
