After reading chapter one I learned many ways that Dr. Fauci mishandled the pandemic. It seems that he was not prepared nor qualified to play the role he did during the pandemic. Learning that he partnered with mainstream social media outlets to get information about the pandemic is startling to me. Social media is not a trustworthy place to get information especially in his position. He had all the resources available to him to handle this correctly and he turned to possible the worst one. It was also very shocking to learn that he lied and kept information from the public on many occurrences. He knew ways that people at home could improve their immune systems and decreases their chances of being very ill from covid yet failed to share in any of his press conferences. He continued to fail the citizens of the US when he all of a sudden declared that hydroxychloroquine was not safe to take anymore even though it has been in the US for 65 years and in many other countries for much longer. I wonder what would have happened our death rate if people were able to take HCQ when they fell sick during the pandemic. My overall take away from this first chapter was that Dr. Fauci failed the citizens of the US in many ones and one large one was his misdirection and information he was feeding to the public.
