Chinese Psychological Warfare Threatens America

Psychological warfare is not a new concept. Governments have been making videos promoting the military asking for troops for centuries. The Chinese government took it one step farther. They put out a video convincing the people at home that the war overseas was much worse than it was. In the article “Anything We Touch Is A Weapon”: New US PsyOps Recruitment Video Casts Spotlight On China Threat” by Tyler Durden he states, “The project might best be described as a proof-of-concept for the military’s capability to build confidence at home and to instill fear abroad.” It is concerning to hear that other countries are manipulating their people into being afraid or fearing for a war that they may not need to fear for. The Chinese military is making the war seem worse than it is in reality. This is just yet another example of how a government is abusing their power to manipulate people. This leads the people to not trust their government and the people in charge. You can not have a successful country if those leading it are manipulating the beliefs of their people. In addition, they are using psychological warfare to create chaos which only harms a country. They are convincing the people that they should worry about what is happening overseas and the citizens are trusting their government. When they find out the truth and show a mistrust in the government a country can not come back from that. The citizens trust the government with all of theirs as citizens of that country and if those authorities are being dishonest that trust will go away.
